How to Follow your Intuition When it Comes to Your Child’s Healthcare

One of the hardest things as a mom is learning what to do when your child gets sick or hurt. You can read all the books, articles and get tons of advice from your parents or friends, but it all comes down to following your intuition, tuning into your child’s needs, and taking the leap. My mom was a Holistic Health Practitioner so I never went to a “traditional” doctor's office growing up or saw a pediatrician. In our home we used homeopathic medicine where I quickly learned how to target feelings, sickness and pain. I learned at a young age how to tap into my intuition in order to articulate what was going on in my body to my mom. Your intuition is a superpower. If you can focus on how you feel - with your family, health, food, people, and movement - instead of judgment or a past story, it simplifies everything and is so much more beautiful.

When I became a mom, taking my kids to a pediatrician and a traditional doctor office never felt aligned. With traditional medical practices, appointments can get overbooked or you have to wait months to set something up. You’re also often battling a referral system that leads to more appointments and longer waits to get my child the help they need. I found Sollis Health over a year ago and it’s been a GAME-CHANGER. I’m able to get a hold of someone right away if I’m calling in to make an appointment or they’ll call me back in 15 minutes. They treat everything from a dog bite to high fever, broken bones, flu and ALL have been supported and cared for experiences. Because it’s an urgent care and open for 24 hours, they break the old model of what an urgent care is expected to be like. It feels more like a loving, gentle experience instead of sterile and impersonal. Their memberships include medical center visits, 24/7 telemedicine, unlimited covid-testing, travel medicine, remote care coordination, strep/flu tests, prescription fulfillment etc. There are additional services such as house calls, advanced imaging & IV infusions.

“A child being injured or ill can be very distressing for parents. Most pediatric practices offer limited after hour and urgent care capabilities. At Sollis Health, all of our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine, and specialize in urgent and emergent pediatric and adult medical care. Our physicians are trained specifically for those times when parents need urgent medical care for their child the most. Parents can rest assured that their child is being taken care of with state of the art medical and imaging capabilities, 24/7, 365 days a year. Additionally, when it is not feasible to bring your family into one of our of practice locations, we offer other optimized healthcare options for families, including telemedicine, travel medicine and house calls.” - Dr. Sharis Simonian, Physician, Sollis Health

When it comes to your child’s health you have to follow your mother’s intuition. You want nothing more than your child to feel safe, loved and happy and when your child is sick or in pain your mother’s intuition kicks in. Intuition is the innate knowledge gifted to us by nature and can only be accessed in a place of awareness. Instincts can be wrong, but intuition is always right. When it comes to my child’s health, I use a partnership in tapping into my intuition and trusting a health practitioner (in my case, Sollis Health) for their expert guidance

There is no one formula for raising children. Being a mama is no doubt a balancing act. Each child is different and each parent is different. The best thing you can do for your child is be present, loving and attentive. Kids can feel when you’re not connected and really love it when you are.

If traditional medicine and health care doesn’t feel aligned for you and your family, there are options! Dr. Simonian said, “It can sometimes feel challenging to find the right medical practice for your child’s healthcare. It is ideal to identify a pediatric practice that is geared towards your child’s specific needs, and where you as a parent feel that it is the right fit for your family.” You want to be sure your family is healthy and supported by the best medical care available. Sollis Health uses concierge medicine to provide high-quality care for your entire family — anytime, anywhere. Embrace every moment as it comes and put your sanity, security & kid’s health above it all. Don’t listen to outside noise/judgment; follow your heart.

“What differentiates Sollis Health is an all-encompassing approach to practicing medicine. We approach each patient’s medical care holistically. While we do specialize in urgent and emergent medical treatments, we offer so much more to our patients. We help coordinate subspecialty care, keep communication lines open between the patient’s primary care physician and other appropriate sub specialists, and help facilitate appropriate alternative medical therapies for our patients.” - Dr. Sharis Simonian, Physician, Sollis Health
